Hecklers at a NY book signing wipe the smile off Fairstein's face. |
Some would say Linda Fairstein used her career as a Manhattan District Attorney to sharpen her fictional crime writing skills, by prosecuting innocent people. After all, she did convict several men for a crime they didn't commit...
During a March 12, 2011, Barnes & Noble booking signing in New York, Fairstein was subjected to boos and chants of "racism", as she described a passage from her latest novel.
Since Fairstein was in the mood to explain fictional criminals, an audience member asked the former D.A. to explain her prosecution of the Central Park Five - the African-American and Latino men who were wrongfully convicted of raping a white, female Central Park jogger in 1989.
Soon, other people, presumably from the same group, began to heckle Fairstein.
Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, and Kharey Wise spent years in prison, until Matias Reyes, who was already serving a life sentence for other crimes, confessed to the rape.
Despite Reyes' confession and biological evidence found on the victim, Fairstein opposed the decision to set the five defendants free.
The Central Park Five's lawsuit against the state of New York, is still pending.

Good for those people for booing her ass! She put innocent people away to further her career, I'm sure, and than when the evidence said otherwise, decided it was better to save face rather than let them out. Buying her book puts money in HER pocket while the city of New York has to pay for HER mistake. Save your money.
Too bad the price of tomatoes and eggs are so high. :-)
LMAO!!!! What fun!!
From what I recall, at least one of them confessed to the crime after a night of "wilding", or terrorizing people in the park.
