Did passengers thwart a Mothers' Day terrorist attack? |
Sunday, March 8, 2011, the passengers aboard Continental Airlines flight number 546, Chicago-bound from Houston, Texas, were alarmed when a Burbank, Illinois, man tried to open the plane's door, said authorities.
The 34-year-old man who caused the commotion on the plane, purportedly told 60-year-old Tony Harris, one of the male passengers who subdued him, that he wanted to get off the plane in mid-flight, because he was having a "bad Mothers' Day".
The flight was diverted to St. Louis, where the 34-year-old unruly passenger was taken into custody.
Aviation professionals say that because the airplane's cabin is pressurized, it would have been impossible for the unruly passenger to open the airplane's door.
Reportedly, some of the passengers on flight 546 were so upset over the mid-air drama, they refused to get back on the plane.
Although officials are saying this was not a terrorist attack related to the May 2, 2011 murder of Al Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden, I will reserve my opinion until more information is released on the suspect.

He had to use the bathroom! :)
Maybe the passenger sitting next to him was funky.
