Simon Cowell, the ex-mean judge on American Idol, has chosen L.A. Reid, a man whose ex-wife once referred to him as evil, to co-host the show X Factor.
Given Cowell and Reid's reputations for having strong personalities, you can bet there is going to be plenty of d-r-a-m-a on the judges' panel.
According to multiple news sources, Reid resigned his post as chairman of Island Def Jam and the Fox network has confirmed his position on Cowell's much-anticipated talent show.
If you are unfamiliar with L.A. Reid's résumé - let me bring you up to speed.
The 54-year-old music mogul, whose real name is Antonio Reid, has worked with mega-stars like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, P!nk, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Avril Lavigne, Toni Braxton, TLC, Usher, OutKast, and Dido - just to name a few.
After his divorce in the mid-nineties, Reid's ex-wife, Pebbles (Perri McKissack), said Reid had done "evil" things to her. In a 1995 Jet magazine interview, she went on and on about how she was going to give Reid enough rope to "hang himself".
Eventually, Pebbles filed a 10 million dollar lawsuit accusing her ex of trying to steal the group TLC, away from her.
If his ex-wife's characterizations of him are accurate - Cowell may have met his match.
