Lady Gaga upsets Christians with new song, Judas. |
Frankly, I think Lady Gaga is a one dimensional character; a mediocre singer who adorns outrageous customs to mask her musical short-comings. But Gaga has one redeeming quality. Like other scandalous performers from the past, she knows how to push people's buttons, and that's a skill even I admire.
Forget the music to Lady Gaga's Judas. It's boring, repetitive, a fuzzy Xerox copy of every other Gaga dance song. Instead, zero in on Judas' lyrics, that's where the song's real power lies.
On the surface, Judas is a common ditty about a woman's dysfunctional love for a man who is absolutely no good - a theme I’m sure a lot of women and even some men can relate to. But you don‘t have to scratch very hard to realize that Judas is a hell of a lot more than a conventional love song.
Lady Gaga is actually confessing her horny lust for a man who happens to share the same name as the biblical character who betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. It’s this layer of the otherwise lackluster song, that emotes pure creative genius and has stoked the ire of Christians worldwide.
Because of Judas’ biblical references and the controversial images in the accompanying video, religious supporters are calling Lady Gaga an evil devil worshiper; even though Gaga clearly states her religious position in the controversial song’s lyrics.
"I wanna love you, But something's pulling me away from you. Jesus is my virtue,
Judas is the demon I cling to," sings Gaga in her musical confession. A confession that seems to speak to Gaga's struggle with choosing good over evil, not her allegiance to Satan, as some would suggest.
I may not appreciate Gaga as a singer, songwriter, or a dancer. However, as an artist, Gaga may prove to be the most provocative entertainer to hit the stage since the glory days of acts like Prince, David Bowie, and Madonna.

Lady Gaga's 'Judas' reminds me of Madonna's 'Like A Prayer'. Both are using controversial "religious" themes to sell CDs. :)
I'm not sure why the person who wrote this article thinks that Gaga can't sing. He probably also thinks Britney is the best singer. FAIL!
I never said Gaga couldn't sing. I said she is a mediocre singer. There is a difference.
Britney Spears USED to be a good dancer, now she's just used up.
