Elderly woman robbed, beaten near Miami Metromover station

Miami, Florida - On June 25, 2011, 77-year-old Beatriz Nunez was attacked and robbed as she walked home from the Metromover station at Northwest 1st Avenue and 6th Street.

A young black male in the his late teens or early twenties, attacked the 77-year-old woman, knocked her to the ground, and stole her purse, said police.

The senior citizen was left with a bloodied face and a broken elbow, reported CBS Miami.

Authorities said witnesses in an SUV, tried to run the purse-snatcher off the sidewalk, but the nimble-footed thief managed to escape.

The suspect, with the SUV hot on his heels, was caught on a surveillance camera.

According to Nunez, the crook stole $20, some insurance cards, a few family photos, and rosary beads from Mexico; which had great sentimental value.
