American Idol voters turned off by Karen Rodriguez's Spanish/English singing

Did America's anti-Hispanic sentiment get Rodriguez kicked off AI?

Apparently, some Americans just aren't in to Spanish music; especially when it's being sung on American Idol.

Tons of online comments suggest Karen Rodriguez's decision to sing some of her songs in Spanish and English, or Spanglish for short, may have cost her her shot at fame.

Naysayers, presumably the same folks who voted for other AI contestants, were insulted by Rodriguez's bilingual numbers.

"Excuse me. It's called American Idol not South American Idol," said one online critic.

Similarly negative remarks accused Rodriguez of trying to get the Latino vote, and scorned the Idol hopeful for saying she wanted to be the first "Latina Idol".

Are racial and ethnic biases dictating the winners and losers on America's favorite talent show?
