Written By Alfred Haynes on Friday, March 2, 2012 | Friday, March 02, 2012

Vernon D. Fails, an accomplished songwriter, producer, and arranger, is dead... according to a tweet published by Anita Baker.
Over the years, Fails worked with Baker, Aretha Franklin, Jody Watley, Regina Belle, David Peaston, and Peabo Bryson - just to name a few.

From 1972 to 1989, Fails was a member of the musical group, Chapter 8... the same Detroit group that has been credited with launching Anita Baker's stellar career.

So far, the details surrounding Fails' death have not been disclosed.

Sources say he died some time Friday morning.

Though I am deeply saddened by your departure from this earth, I am ever grateful for the years that I was allowed to share in the company of such a great spirit and talent! Rest in Peace, Vernon D. Fails.
