Ina Garten, Barefoot Contessa, caves to pressure, agrees to see Make-A-Wish kid

Written By Alfred Haynes on Monday, March 28, 2011 | Monday, March 28, 2011

Apparently, Food Network star, Ina Garten, has been bullied into changing her mind.

After being raked over coals and called every nasty name in the book, the Barefoot Contessa has agreed to meet with a 6-year-old cancer patient.

When Garten allegedly refused to meet with the dying boy and his family, someone, probably the M.A.W. Foundation, decided to play dirty and use emotional blackmail to get their way.

Garten's publicist says the celebrity chef wasn't aware of the sick kid's desire to meet her; until last weekend.

An invitation to Garten's Food Network studio has been extended to the terminally ill boy and his family.

My first thought on this when it was reported she wasn't going to do this was, WOW, that's the thanks you give to fans who made her what she is today. Without those fans turning in to watch her show, who would she be? Who would know who she is? While I do think celebrities have the right to yea or nay something, they should always consider how they got on the "make a wish" list in the first place..it's called FANS and a dying child who chose HER, WOW! She should consider that an honor because that child COULD have chosen a hundred other celebrities. They are dead in the water without them. Guilt can be a mighty powerful decision maker.

She doesn't have to do this. Since when does Make A Wish get to demand things from the rich and fmaous? Lets not forget the Michael Jackson 1993 incident when he was accused fo touning a child, who was from Make a Wish. Even families with sick children can be evil. Celebrities don't need to do whatever for their fans. Love your favorites celeb for their WORK and not their personal decesion. Bob Dylan doesn't do meet and greet with fans and he himself has said" Just because you like my music, it doesn't mean I owe you anything".Enzo Pereda and his family were being bullies. I will never give money to Make a wish if they are going to help selfish, vile families like the Pereda. Make a Wish should be ashamed themselves. It look like they like to work for petty and manipulative families.
