Etta James' son, husband fight over estate, as singer's health declines

When it comes to watching relatives fight over someone else's money, I have been there and done that.

So, naturally, when I heard Etta James' family is feuding over her estate - while Etta lies helplessly on her sickbed - the story really resonated with me.

According to The Daily Beast, Etta is no longer able to speak or make any decisions for herself... a condition that is causing a lot of drama among her family members.

Her son, Donto James and her husband Artis Mills, are reportedly fighting for control over Etta's bank account, which holds an estimated 1 million dollars.

Etta's husband says he wants access to the money to pay for Etta's mounting medical bills.

Etta's son wants to appoint a third party administrator to keep an eye on his mother's money, and has reportedly questioned the medical care his mom is receiving while under her husband's charge.

Sounds like a "Zsa Zsa Gabor" saga as well. Unfortunately, the spouse always gets control to squander money. What a shame.

Very sad, indeed. I just hope Etta is as comfortable as possible. She worked hard her entire life, at the very least, she deserves to be taken care of in her final days. :-(

People make sure your children are taken care of- & don't leave allll of your affairs & your money in a spouse's hands & leave your children out where they have to fight & stress over what is rightfully theirs. Because all your spouse is going to do with your money is screw it off on themselves when you die & spend YOUR money on somebody else!

Anonymous, I know countless people who died without a will and their greedy family members took EVERYTHING and the people who actually loved the decedents, got nothing.
