After today's press briefing, Mark Toner may be looking for a new job. |
During Monday’s, March 21, 2011, State Department briefing, which was broadcast live on C-Span, Acting Deputy Department Spokesman, Mark Toner, took a major beating by the press.
When asked to explain why the U.S. bombed Libya, but continues to ignore the situation in Yemen, Toner tripped over his tongue so much, it was like listening to Porky Pig defend Obama’s wishy-washy foreign policies.
The Acting Deputy Department Spokesman was so rattled by the rapid-fire questioning, he had to pause for a long drink of water.
Despite being asked several times, Toner could not, or would not, give any details on how the Obama Administration picks its battles.
“When did the U.S. ask Yemen’s president to step down?,” asked a reporter. “I don’t remember,” Toner nervously replied. “That’s because you didn’t,” shot back the journalist.
By the end of the Q&A, Toner appeared to be in the midst of a nervous breakdown.
