Debra Burlingame, a former attorney and the sister of Charles Burlingame, an airline pilot that crashed into the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, claims President Obama turned his back on her.
During the President’s May 5, 2011, meeting with 9/11 families and first responders in New York, Burlingame used her face-to-face time with the commander in chief to try to tell him how to do his job.
The seemingly pushy Burlingame wants Attorney General, Eric Holder, to drop the charges against CIA interrogators who allegedly used waterboarding (an illegal act of torture) to gain information on Al Qaeda. After being hugged by Obama, Burlingame asked the President to intervene in Holder’s decision to prosecute the CIA interrogators.
According to Burlingame, as a former attorney, she kows that Obama cannot tell Holder what do. Despite her so-called legal knowledge, Burlingame still asked the President to offer the Attorney General his opinion. Obama reportedly said, "no, I won't," and walked away.
Frankly, I don’t understand why so many people have their political underwear in a knot over this one-sided report of Burlingame’s encounter with the President.
She asked Obama a question. He gave her an answer. The end.
