I have sad news for Disco and House Music lovers... one of our Divas has died.

64-year-old Loleatta Holloway, a Chicago native, died of heart failure Monday, March 21, 2011.

Through conversations with friends, I learned that the Queen of Disco had been ill for a while, even though news reports claim Holloway was ill for a brief period.

As a huge fan of Disco and House Music, I spent many weekends working off my extra pounds to songs like, Dreaming, Love Sensation, Hit and Run, and Re-light My Fire - each track made famous by Holloway's unmistakably incredible voice.

In the 90's, Holloway successfully sued the group Black Box for using voice in the song, Ride on Time, without her permission. Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch also sampled Holloway's voice in their number one hit, Good Vibrations.

Loleatta, wherever you are, the world is a little less beautiful without you here, but your musical contributions will continue to inspire, and through your recordings, your voice will live forever.

My favorite Loleatta Holloway song, Dreaming:
