The whole world is grieving over the death of iconic actress, philanthropist, and AIDS activist - Elizabeth Taylor.

Taylor, who was 79-years-old, lost her battle with congestive heart failure and died today at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. Her children were by her side.

Dame Elizabeth may always be remembered for her extraordinary beauty, but I will always remember her extraordinary compassion.

Long before it was fashionable, or acceptable to do so, Taylor was at the forefront of the fight against HIV/AIDS.

When screen legend, Rock Hudson, publicly announced his AIDS diagnosis in 1985 - Elizabeth Taylor stood by Hudson’s side. During an AIDS benefit that same year, Taylor warned Hollywood not to turn their backs on Hudson, when he needed them most. “He is our brother. He is someone we have loved and broken bread with,” said Taylor.

Sadly, because of Dame Elizabeth’s commitment to stamping out a disease that once plagued the gay community, her death has caught the attention of a notorious group of hate-mongers.

Westboro Baptist Church is threatening to protest Taylor’s funeral. Margie Phelps took to Twitter calling Liz a “serial-whore” and an enabler of “fag filth”.
