Study: LGBT Haitians blamed for 2010 earthquake and forgotten during recovery efforts

Written By Alfred Haynes on Saturday, April 2, 2011 | Saturday, April 02, 2011

If you are one of the millions of people who donated money to help rebuild Haiti, your dollars may never reach the earthquake-ravaged country's most isolated population -- the LGBT community.

According to the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC), since the January 2010 earthquake, the environment has grown increasingly hostile towards lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people living in Haiti.

Members of the LBGT community have been beaten, cursed at on the streets, and their "sins" have blamed for the earthquake, itself.

Through several interviews, IGLHRC also determined that many LGBT Haitians have been denied access to food-aid.

Because the bulk of the food was distributed to women, gay men who live alone or with other men, are routinely denied access to much-needed nutrients. And due to the increasingly homophobic atmosphere, many transgendered women and lesbians are too afraid to stand in line for food.

Are you kidding me WTF! Next thing you know we'll be blamed for the Tsunami in Japan. Hell, let's just blame ALL the problems created by STRAIGHT people on the gays. Point 1 finger at someone and you have 3 pointing back at you! People just love to hate and blame someone else for their problems rather than look at the big picture, which isn't pretty. Hatred is alive and well in Haiti. Maybe their GOD is punishing them for THEIR HATRED! Oh, and what about Haiti and their voodoo practices? Very scary indeed and certainly not viewed as part of the "christian doctrine" which means, if you believe that stuff, they're ALL going to HELL. Shame on the haitian people for taking the goodwill sent by millions of people from all over the world and helping some and not others. Had I known they were going to do that, they WOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN A CENT OF MY MONEY!

It's sad, but a lot of LGBT Americans are completely clueless about the atrocities other gays face around the world. When I hear about stories like this, it makes me appreciate my life in America, even more!

Surprisingly, some/most (?) Pan Africanists and Black Preachers claim "Black Gays don't exist!". 'Jerry Springer' and other "sources" prove otherwise. If Black Gays don't exist, then why preach against or deny them?
